SMEWC will be held the weekend of Feb 20th. Usual food, drink, foolery. Laubauch promises to wrench on the VFR. Hasn't mentioned posing but that's usually a spur of the moment thing. Co-ed naked snow angels have never gotten off the ground, so to speak, but we keep hoping (or worrying).

KOTNYBB&W - February 25-27, 2011 - Greenville, SC

Come meet the Greenville contingent of maggots at this year's Kick off the New Year BBQ & Wrenchfest, or the KOTNYBB&W for short.

Guest of honor this year will be Timothy E. Schwab - Sergeant First Class - National Guard - United States Army Forces Command, returning from his tour of duty February 22. He needs help putting fork seals, carb boots and a choke cable on his big Sabre so he can catch up on some much needed and well deserved riding.

Format will be typical wrenchfest fare. Bring 'em, work on 'em and get some help from people that have done it before (hopefully). A large, indoor, heated, well-lit, shop with good tunes (aka the man-cave) will be provided. Stuff like work benches, Steeeeeeeve's 'spensive high-zoot NoMar tire changing machine and wheel balancer, motorcycle jacks, compressor, and assorted tools will be available. The days are short this time of year and we'll be drinking beer (except for Ryder if he shows, he's more of a tequila guy and KB leans towards soft drinks, but not as much as she used to), so bedrooms and plenty of floor space are also available, with the comfiest beds going to a complicated formula involving age, distance traveled, how much we like you and whether or not you piss off The Goddess, who will be in attendance this year.

There's also a big hot-tub for soaking away those wrenched wrenching elbows afterwards, so bring those suits if you embarass easily, although last year it was almost too warm out to use it (I just threw this in to piss off Zim-Bob). Wrenching will start in earnest Saturday morning, but brew sampling, tire-sniffing and maggot greeting can start Friday afternoon or early evening. We'll wrap up any loose ends and shoo everybody off Sunday morning.

This year we'll do something different, round up the troops on Saturday afternoon and head for the fantabulous Cycle World International Motorcycle Show which, conveniently enough, is just a pleasant 15 minute ride down the tree-lined streets.

What is it: KOTNYBB&W
Where is it: big red mo's in Greenville, SC
When is it: 25-27 Feb. 2011

Interested? Contact me directly, Big Red Mo, with KOTNYBB&W in the subject line, for maps and directions.

SME 15.9 Spring Shakedown, Southern Style April 28-30, 2011

Location: Hunt's Lodge Motorcycle Campground Tellico Plains, TN

Come help us celebrate the opening of our 5th season (wow, can you believe it has been that long already?!?) with the usual Maggot itinerary - ride, eat, tell lies, sleep, repeat...

We will be providing meals on Friday & Saturday nights, and a huge breakfast spread on Saturday morning. None of it healthy, but all of it rib-stickin' good, haha! If you have dietary needs, please let Lori know so she can plan accordingly. You'll be on your own for lunch because honestly, most of you will be out playing in the mountains anyway.

Free range style camping available, ping Lori if you'd like a bunk. If you don't want to chance having a bed upon which to lay your weary head, other places to stay can be found at http://www.huntslodge.com/Local_Accommodations.html.

With the proliferation of naming get togethers, I figure I'll follow suit. I think it's self-explanatory.

I've decided on Willville as the main location, with there being a (yes, one) cabin there and the Blue Ridge Motel as actual bed options for those that want it.

I just got off the phone with the Blue Ridge Motel and she is wide open that weekend. Rates are as follows:

A 2-bed room is $60 per night for 2 people

A 1-bed (queen) is $40 per for one person/ $50 for two people (time to get snuggly someone)

Will still has the cabin available as of this morning when I spoke to him.

I also called Meadows of Dan campground to inquire about their cabins, but they are stupid high, starting at $85 and going to $160!

I'd love to make this an annual thing (if for nothing else, an excuse for me to get to the northern end of the BRP more often).

If you want a the cabin at Will's, call soon. I did NOT reserve it. I will be camping this go 'round.

SMESUB&SYNC July 29, 30, 31, 2011 - Durham, Connecticut

Hey, everyone gets a catchy name for their party, I want one too. LOL

This is the weekend after I take the CT Bar Exam, so I'ma gonna needa be drinkin'. NO gifts, please. I just want to celebrate with my friends!

It's "Shim Under Bucket" and carb sync, by the way. But it sure sounded good.

Plenty of grass for tents, some floor space for blow up mattresses. The Zim's already have the spare room.

Full garage of tools and such for those that need/want to do work. I have the Honda S.U.B. valve shims that fit the VFR and ST1100 (not sure if the ST1300 takes the same ones on not). I'll be sure we have a carb sync gauge kit here (Ripaldi has a nice dial-indicator one).

Party Saturday afternoon/evening. The smoker will be full of ribs and the grills full of other foods. I'll have neighbors here as well as family and non-MC friends from out of state. The rest of the weekend will NOT be anything like NOE for food. LOL

Some "ok" roads around here, but this is not TN or SE Ohio, so don't get your hopes up.

Let me know who's comin'!

Ever think about doing a European Alpine tour? Why wait? Come ride the Alps with some of the denizens of the SABMAG list in 2011.

What? SMILE 2011 = Sab Maggots Invade Lovely Europe in 2011

When? Rendevous together in Munich Germany on Friday, July 29, 2011. Pick up rental bikes on Saturday, July 30, for 1-week trip. Return rental bikes to Munich on Saturday, August 6.

Itinerary? Details to be determined. Possible riding locations include the Grossglockner Hochalpinestrasse (Austria), the Dolomites (Italy), Stelvio Pass (Italy), Andermatt (Swiss Alps), or Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany). Route suggestions welcome.

Travel Details? If traveling from the US to Europe, most flights depart in the afternoon/evening and arrive the next morning. Therefore, you should depart the US no later than Thursday, July 28, for arrival in Munich on Friday July 29. On the return, we will likely be dropping off the bikes on Saturday morning, August 6. Since most flights from Europe to the US leave in the morning, you should probably plan for departure back to the US on Sunday August 7 at the earliest. Come early and stay late if you like. Your own schedule will dictate your travel arrangements.

Accommodations? Details to be determined. Some combination of hotels, pensions and lodges designed for low costs will be chosen.

Cost? Details to be determined. Estimated budget of $200 per day during the trip will probably be close to reality, including bike rental, gas, lodging and food. Not including cost of your airfare or extra hotels before and after.

Memories? Priceless.

Information? Contact Rich Dluhy

Typical Tellico SME events unfold - eat, ride, tell lies, that kind of thing. Okay, so the fall colors won't quite be at their peak, but there will be colors in the mountains, and do we really have to have an excuse to get together, eat, tell lies, and ride?.... I didn't think so, either...

Dinner provided on Friday & Saturday night, huge breakfast on Saturday. You're on your own for lunch because, quite frankly, most of you will be out riding anyway.

Free range style camping available, ping Lori if you'd like a bunk. If you don't want to chance having a bed upon which to lay your weary head, other places to stay can be found at http://www.huntslodge.com/Local_Accommodations.

What happens when out of town maggots come to visit? We go riding. On Saturday, October 8th a handful of maggots are going to be riding in and around the San Francisco Bay Area to enjoy all the nice weather and twisty roads they can find. They will not be disappointed.

Want to join us? In true maggot fashion, we have no idea where we’re going yet. Or who all is going. Or what bikes are available for our out-of-towners. But we’re not going to let little things like that stop us.

Leaving: Early-ish Saturday morning, October 8th.
From where: TBD – in the SF Bay Area
Returning: Sometime Saturday, October 8th.

Contact people: Chuck’s going on vacation tomorrow morning and won’t be back until just before the ride, but you can give it a shot. Seven three four - seven one eight - two eight one seven
Rand has been a listmember and Bay Area local forever – he definitely knows some great roads. Email Rand

The default plan is to leave Chuck’s house in San Francisco at 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. 4210 26th Street, SF CA. Please feel free to come up with a better plan while Chuck’s on vacation.
